How do HDMI cables work?

HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface and works by using TDMS (transition-minimized differential signalling). TDMS encodes the signal being transmitted, which protects information from degrading as it travels along the cable from one place to another. Then, using the difference between the original signal and the inverse, the TV compensates for any loss of information that may have happened along the way.
