To make shims more accessible to users, manufacturers produce a few types of shims. Based on the nature of shimming that is commonly required, manufacturers produce shims in a range of profiles that are quick and easy to use. Some of these profiles include
1. Flat Sheets
2. Precut Slotted
3. Washers
Shim Stock
Shims are most commonly produced in flat sheets for the simple expectation that they will be cut into a desired shape. Nevertheless, they retain the basic shape of being a square or rectangular sheet.
The most commonly available dimensions are 6" or 12" for widths and anywhere from 50" to 180" for lengths. The great thing about shims is that being thin, they can rolled up for easy storage and handling. The common name for referring to shim sheets or shim rolls is shim stock.
Over here, 0.05mm brass shims are available in flat square or rectangular sheets. In increments of 50mm, widths range from 50mm to 300mm while lengths range from 50mm to 1 Metre.
