WHERE TO USE

Mapeprim SP is a synthetic-resin-based primer which ensures perfect bonding with smoothing and levelling compounds and cementitious mortars on non-absorbent and difficult substrates. Some application examples

• For preparing smooth and compact cementitious floors and for levelling existing ceramic tile and natural stone surfaces when used with smoothing compounds, (e.g. Ultraplan or Planolit).
• Preparation of anhydrite, magnesium, and gypsum surfaces before smoothing or before laying ceramic tiles.
• Preparation of cast asphalt, wood, chipboard, metal sheeting, PVC, painted surfaces.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Mapeprim SP is a primer consisting of two components (A+B). After accurate mixing, application to the substrate, and drying, Mapeprim SP hardens to a compact film resistant to water and ageing. Since Mapeprim SP is dispersed in water, it therefore presents no inflammability problems and can be stored with no special measures taken.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Preparation of the substrate The substrate must be dry, clean, free from oil, grease, paint residue, loose plaster and laitance. Mapeprim SP should not be applied when the substrate is damp or subject to rising damp. Preparation of the primer Mapeprim SP is composed of two prepackaged components (A+B), of different colours (light blue and white), which must be mixed in equal proportions to obtain a homogeneous colour. Use the primer within 3 hours of mixing. Applying the primer Mapeprim SP can be applied with a brush, roller, rubber float, or smooth trowel in an amount varying from 100 to 200 g/m2 , according to the degree of absorption and texture of the substrate. To improve workability, Mapeprim SP can be diluted with approx. 5-10% water. Before applying the smoothing compound or the mortar, wait until the primer has turned transparent but remains tacky. Dependent on the type of substrate, temperature, humidity and ventilation on site, drying occurs in approx. 1-3 hours However, waiting longer than 24 hours is not recommended. Cleaning Tools, containers and clothing must be washed immediately with clean water.

COVERAGE

Coverage varies from 0.1 to 0.2 kg/m² depending on the porosity of the substrate. PACKAGING 4+4 kg and 2+2 kg drums.

STORAGE Mapeprim SP may be stored for 12 months in original, closed packaging.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARATION AND APPLICATION

Mapeprim SP component A may irritate the skin and eyes and cause sensitisation in those subjects sensitive to such substances. When applying the product, we recommend the use of protective gloves and goggles and to take the usual precautions for handling chemical products. In case of contact with eyes or skin wash immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention. Mapeprim SP component A and B are hazardous for aquatic life.
