Unitough: Sustainable & Cost Effective

UniTough is a specially formulated concentrated liquid to stabilize and strengthen poor quality soils containing clayey material to improve their properties as road construction materials and for rehabilitation purposes. When properly applied, promotes density, forming durable, virtually waterproof unpaved roads and exceptionally strong, long-lasting bases for paved roads.

By mixing minute amounts of UT into the soil, the compaction process working on the ionised water vigorously exchanges its ions with the soil particles so that the water molecules surrounding the soil particles get broken down in an irreversible process converting to free water which gets removed during the compacting process. This allows maximum removal of moisture within the treated soil layer and permits the gaining of maximum density. The result of this effect is an improvement in the bearing capacity of the road base, which can be translated in important reductions to the depth of each structural element or even total elimination of some elements.

It is a unique blend of environmentally safe, non-toxic compounds that are suitable for virtually all soil types by using standard road equipment.

When used to construct bases for paved roads, the UT treatment is permanent. For unpaved roads, the treatment is permanent but naturally, the unpaved road surface will gradually be worn down by traffic.

Whatever construction method used, the biggest issue will have, is damage from water – reason why will continue to have potholes in the “best” constructed roads. With UT-treated roads, just mix with onsite soil and compact. Only a single treatment is required to produce a road layer that is very dense and thus virtually waterproof. Without water penetration, this road will have taken away the key contributing reason for all road damage.
